About The Pomeranian Breed
If you are looking for a pooch to pamper, the Pomeranian is an excellent choice! The tiniest member of the Spitz family of dogs, these adorable little pups weigh just 3 to 7 pounds. The breed originated in an area of Germany called "Pomerania", and were imported to Britain during the reign of Queen Victoria. They have since become very popular throughout the world, and are a good choice for people who have to spend a lot of time indoors. Pomeranians do not require a lot of exercise, and enjoy the pampered life. They do require daily brushing to keep their long, double coats in good condition.
Pomeranians come in a wide range of colours, including white, black, cream, brown, orange, beaver and sable. Although these miniature dogs stand just 8.5 to 11 inches, they are actually the descendants of the big arctic sled-pulling dogs. They are intelligent, spirited and energetic, just like their larger cousins. Although their size makes them no match for an intruder, Pomeranians alert nature, shrill bark and intelligence make them a natural burglar alarm system for your home. A word of caution if you are considering adding a Pomeranian to your family: They're addictive! It's hard to stop at just one!
